About Kara Cook MP

Your Federal Member for Bonner

Meet Kara

Kara Cook is a proud Queenslander, raised in Yeppoon in Central Queensland, and now calls Brisbane’s Eastern suburbs home, where she lives with her husband Josh and three children.

Kara’s life has been shaped by a passion for service, whether as a lawyer advocating for those experiencing domestic violence, as a small business owner, or as a Brisbane City Councillor where she worked to ensure her community had a strong voice on the issues that mattered to them.

As Member for Bonner, Kara is part of Anthony Albanese's team to help build a better future where every child, every family, and every business in Bonner has the chance to thrive.

She has seen firsthand the challenges families in Bonner face, the rising cost of living, access to quality healthcare and education or the need for affordable housing.

Kara is a fighter and will fight for what this community deserves - a strong voice in Canberra who puts your first
