About Bonner
The federal electorate of Bonner was created in 2004 and is located in the eastern suburbs of Brisbane, stretching from the Port of Brisbane in the North, to Manly and Wynnum on the Bayside, to Wishart and Mount Gravatt in the West. The electorate also includes iconic Queensland tourism destinations of Moreton Bay and Tangalooma.
Bonner’s namesake is from former Senator Neville Bonner AO, the first Indigenous Australian to serve in the Australian Parliament between 1971 to 1983. Bonner was respected on both sides of politics for his commitment to Indigenous issues and the environment, including land rights and technological opportunities.
Suburbs include Lytton, Wakerley, Wynnum, Manly, Lota, Hemmant, Tingalpa, Wynnum West, Mackenzie, Manly West, Ransome, Gumdale, Chandler, Belmont, Carindale, Burbank, Rochedale, Wishart, Moreton Island, Mansfield, Mount Gravatt and parts of Cannon Hill, Murarrie and Carina.
